Balmain Spring / Summer 2018 Collection
THE UNLIKELY COMBINATION

This collection has two main themes running through it; that of classy french couture and an undertone of american stars and stripes. Not a first choice combination for most but for Olivier Rousteing it has come from a place close to his heart, as this collection is the product of his realisation that some now assume he is american and how he interpreted this.
LEATHER IS DEFINITELY A HIT FOR THIS SEASON
So it's not only McQueen telling us to ditch the dresses for leather jackets this coming season, Balmain is also filling their runway with heavily studded leather jackets embossed with the american flag. Deep reds, yellows and blues periodically infiltrating the monochrome palette that this collection is showcasing. There are some gorgeous embellishments added to many of the outfits like the dresses above which really help to bring out the classy but edgy vibe that the whole show portrays, However much I love those lace up tights showcased in the second image I cant begin to imagine how long it would take to do those up!
SUITED AND BOOTED
The workplace would look a lot different if we could all strut in on Monday in these amazingly detailed suits, they are absolutely mesmerizing and if I stare to long I'm pretty sure I'll fall into a trance. The patterns, whilst changing between garments, have a very strong fluidity to one another and I strongly believe that you could match up different items and still end up fit for the runway... Or your job!
TASSELS ARE A MUST
As we have seen in other collections tassels and embroideries haven't budged from being a runway and wardrobe staple, so of course we will be seeing more of it next spring. Balmain is bringing in some hippie vibes with that tasseled mustard yellow suede jacket, a really good example of some old school Americana with a modern twist. As always what do you guys think of Balmain's view on next spring? Are you gonna be out and about rocking those tassels?
